healthy sexuality. What is healthy sexuality? Kathleen Miller, a

Couples in recovery

Jennifer Murphy
To learn about your
partner's sexual compulsion and/or affair can be one of the most
challenging experiences a person could address. Life will never
be the same. The reality is that in the Christian as well as
secular communities, sexual addiction is growing at an alarming
rate, especially with the emergence of internet
cybersex. Access to pornography and elicit liaisons
is not only more readily available, but now is becoming invasive
into homes and families, especially Christian marriages.
Many couples seek professional help for sexual addiction when
their marriage is in crisis. Recovery, however, is a life-
long process, and couples who are not in crisis can still benefit
from opportunities to grow in their relationship. The
church ought to be a place that continues to support and
challenge couples towards deeper intimacy. Joel &
Jennifer will discuss a marriage retreat they are
offering at their church this Fall which will address the
continued need for couples to explore and strengthen their
relationship. The retreat centers around a study of The
Song of Songs, a rich poetic narrative that paints a picture of
what a redeemed couple can look like.
Having informed, specific and caring interventions can offer
couples and families empowerment for healing, restoration and
true intimacy.
